Aisling McMahon is a clinical psychologist, integrative psychotherapist, and clinical supervisor. Having worked as a clinician for 25 years, Aisling moved into full-time academia in 2015 and now works as an Assistant Professor in Dublin City University, Ireland, where she teaches on postgraduate psychotherapy and clinical supervision training programmes. Aisling also has many years of experience supervising trainees as well as qualified practitioners, supervisors, and senior managers. Her research interests are clinical supervision and practitioner development – from training to retirement. With Peter Hawkins, Aisling is co-author of the 5th ed. of Supervision in the Helping Professions (2020); she has published articles in both professional and academic journals on supervision research and practice; and she runs training workshops and does conference presentations on supervision, both nationally and internationally. Aisling was Chair of the Psychological Society of Ireland working group which developed “Supervision Guidelines for Psychologists.” As a lifelong learner, Aisling is also currently training as a group analyst.
Fun fact: Aisling has become a Netflix series’ addict, with a tendency to binge when it’s good – like reading a good book that you can’t put down!
