Ryan Cook’s research interests include the study of supervisee nondisclosure, the supervisory relationship, and ethical and professional issues in clinical supervision. His research trajectory is designed to shape training practices, supervision practices, and the licensure process for the field of counseling. Ryan’s scholarship is largely informed by his prior work as a crisis counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor. At UA, Ryan teaches the doctoral course in supervision and the master’s level practicum and internship courses. He also provides supervision of supervision to doctoral students and serves as the Coordinator of the UA Counselor Education Counseling Lab. He has led workshops and presented at state, national, and international conferences. He currently serves on the editorial boards for Journal of Counseling & Development, Counselor Education and Supervision, and Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation.
His most fulfilling roles are as a father and a husband. He is passionate about soccer, music, and all things Washington D.C. sports-related.
