CALL FOR EDITOR @ The Clinical Supervisor

Loading Events

The Clinical Supervisor is looking for a new Editor-in-Chief.

Current editor, L. DiAnne Borders, will step down later this year and the publisher is looking to appoint a new editorial team to take the journal forward and continue to grow the reach and impact of the journal in the years ahead.

About the Journal

The Clinical Supervisor is the only international journal devoted exclusively to the art and science of clinical supervision – the “signature pedagogy” of mental health and related professions. A multi-disciplinary, refereed publication, the journal is a unique resource for supervision researchers, practitioners, and educators working across a range of disciplines, including counseling, substance abuse, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, communication science disorders, psychiatric nursing and other health sciences, occupational therapy, genetic counseling, art and music therapies, child welfare, medical education, and other fields in which clinical supervision is central to the education of effective practitioners.

The journal currently publishes two issues per year and is supported by an active international editorial board.

The Future of The Clinical Supervisor

We believe the journal is well-positioned to enlarge both the breadth and scope of its coverage but also to further internationalise and reach new audiences. Specifically we believe there are opportunities to do the following:

· Expand the reach of the journal to researchers, practitioners, and educators working not only within mental health but also in related and adjacent disciplines

· Enlarge the international reach of the journal and the representation of authors outside of the United States

· Increase the size of the journal beyond its current publishing volumes

· Continue and develop the journal’s practice of publishing special issues on important and topical themes

For Candidates

Becoming the editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience that provides the opportunity to build your own networks, develop and promote the research in your field, and be recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

Recruiting your own team, you will be responsible for overseeing and administering a rigorous and proper peer review process and helping form and drive the strategic direction of the journal. This includes determining topics for and shaping the direction of the journal’s program of special issues.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

· Experience in academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process

· The capacity to devote time each week to the role and to lead the Editorial Board

· Experience working effectively with independent peer reviewers.

· The ability to read, summarize, analyse, and make decisions based on their reports.

· A strong commitment to ethical rigour and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times

· A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal

The Editor will also require an ability and willingness to engage with the many changes taking place in the field of scholarly communication, such as the prevalence of AI, evolving Open Access mandates, and internationalisation of research output, amongst other things.

The successful candidate will receive full training and support. We would also be open to applications for joint or co-editorships.

Applications should include your CV and a Cover Letter. We would be particularly interested in knowing:

· Where you believe the field is going and the journal’s place within it

· How you would work in partnership with the Editorial Board

· How you would maintain and increase the quality of submissions

· How you would work with authors
